Robert Scott Taylor

I am a PhD student in Philosophy of Science at the University of Cambridge. I work on topics in the philosophy of medicine and psychiatry, bioethics, and moral responsibility, with a particular focus on exploring these topics in the context of addiction.

My thesis examines how we should understand the concepts of health and disease to better capture the nature of psychiatric conditions such as addiction and depression, as well as risk factors like hypertension.

Before Cambridge I completed an MSc in Philosophy and Public Policy at LSE and an undergraduate degree in Philosophy and Economics at The College of William & Mary.

Other than philosophy, I enjoy reading fiction, running ultramarathons, mountaineering, and practicing Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
